Both Rachel Hornby and Olivia Sheehan where both selected for the Swim England trip to Dubai in February. In this competition both swimmers got the chance to compete against the best young swimmers from England along with the best middle eastern swimmers around.
Both Girls trained in Dubai with the swim England team on the week leading up to the competition gaining valuable experience working with other coaches and swimmers testing themselves against the best.
Rachel Hornby competed in the 400Free, 200Breast, 200 and 400IM. Where she excelled in all events making finals in them all and coming away with two silver medals in the 200/400IM. Rachel added to her already impressive collection of British championship qualifying times picking up new personal Bests in 3 of the events. This was Rachels 2nd selection onto an international team and she is growing in confidence on that level.
Olivia Sheehan competed in the 400Free, 800Free, 100Fly and 200Fly. This was Olivia’s first experience of racing abroad on an international level. She came away with finals in the 800Free, 100Fly and then finally the 200Fly where on the last swim of the meet she came away with a silver medal and topped off a great competition in style.
Both swimmers conducted themselves impeccably whilst they competed and trained and have been great role modals for the squad over the 8 years in the program, they will now go on to the British championships in April where they aim for further success and to move themselves that bit closer to senior swimming.
