This year’s Swim North West Youth Regionals proved to be a successful weekend for the older end of the squad with numerous pbs and medals being accumulated.
With some swimmers competing for the first time in the National qualifying window early nerves were evident but the squad showed great togetherness and spirit to help each other through which resulted in several swimmers putting themselves in the shop window so to speak for this year’s nationals. This was particularly evident in the 14/16 years women’s 800 freestyle relay with all four swimmers achieving personal best times.
Medals were won by:-
Caitlin Maylor 1 Silver 2 Bronze
Chloe Ridge 3 gold 1 Silver
Sam Grimes 2 Silver 1 Bronze
Rachel Hornby 1 Gold 1 Silver
Matt Tinkler 1 Gold 1 Silver 1 Bronze
Ruby Sheehan 2 Silver
Jack Pritchard 1 Gold
Alex Hornby 1 Bronze
Lucy Vaughan 1 Silver
Olivia Sheehan 1 Gold
Eve Horton 1 Bronze
A big thank you again to Jen and Mel on poolside for their invaluable assistance.
Big positives over the weekend:-
Team spirit
Professional approach to warm ups and swim downs Improvement from heat to final Lessons to be learned:- Some swimmers need to take the opportunities placed in front of them and not wait for it to happen, go out and grab it!!!!!!
