Once again our swimmers were in fine form going into the the final weekend of the “Swim England Northwest Summer Regional Championships” which took place in Liverpool last weekend.
In all 15 swimmers made it to 32 finals during the weekend adding a further 16 medals to the clubs total bringing this years total to a very impressive 71 medals 26 gold 23 silver and 22 bronze.
Evie Cutter’s busy scheduled and successes continued when she secured another 5 medals over the weekend bringing her to an 10 medals. for the championships. In the 13 years 50 free a impressive 28.5 gave her the championship gold while in the 100 fly and 200 back Evie collected the silver with bronze added to her collection from the 50 fly and 400 IM.
The final weekend saw Matthew Sawers add a further 2 medals to his growing collection. A 9:37 gave him an excellent gold in the 13 boys 800 free and then went on to take the 200 fly bronze.
Our 11 / 12 years showed their talents with James Vaughan once again making massive improvement when he dominated the boys 400 IM winning in 5:44 backing this performance up with a silver in the 200 breaststroke. For the girls Jorja Howard brought her best times down to an excellent 32.0 taking the 12 year girls 50 fly Championship title going on to take the silver spot in the 200 back. 12 year-old Dan Barton showed his talent when he took his first Regional medal coming in bronze spot in the boys 200 back. Continuing the success for our younger swimmers was 11 year-old Ellen Jones who took an excellent bronze in the girls 50 breaststroke.
In the 13 year girls 200 breaststroke Alice Holt was in fine form coming home in 2:50 to take bronze with Alfie Owen showing his talent in taking a fantastic silver in the boys 13 years 400 IM. 14 year-old Hannah Lee had a big drop in her pb time in the girls 200 back to take the bronze spot.
With one more week of the National Window to go our attention now turns back to Level 1 open meets with our National swimmers racing their final meet of the period in Swansea this weekend.
